Yader & Sarah

got married!!!!

It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding. Sarah's mom and dad are great friends with my mom and dad. I think the last time I saw Sarah I was about 10. ;-) Needless to say, we've both grown up a bit!!

Sarah and Yader met in Nicaragua in January, 2007. In September of the same year, they got engaged and started the long process of melding two lives from two different countries and planning a wedding at the same time.

The ceremony was beautiful, and it was great to see the two of them together!! The word that comes to mind to describe the vibe of Yader and Sarah's wedding day is "finally". They are 2 people very much in love who've waited a long time and worked very hard to be together and to be married.

Yader even let me practice my Spanish...that year in Spain finally paid off in my realm of photography!! ;-)

Ice Cream Making in Colorado

Last week I got to spend the week in Fairplay, CO at my mom and dad's. It was a great week (despite the cold that I caught from my husband, who caught it from my brother, and that I gave to my mom!). We made the most amazing homemade ice cream in the world. It is lemon flavored. Yes, that is a kind of weird flavor of ice cream, but it is absolutely amazing. 110% "worth it," if you will. If you're interested, I'll try to get the recipe from my dad. I know it involves egg whites, egg yolks, and whipping cream...all whipped separately so as to make sure that the ice cream is the most creamy thing you've ever tasted. I've realized that I missed photographing every other part of the experience except the freezing, but I thought I'd share it with you anyway. ;-)

The last 2 pictures are of my dad's shop, which invoke about 30% of my feelings of home. The other 70% is what my mom provides!! ;-)

Dave & D

Dave and Danielle got married in Traverse City, MI. What a gorgeous location they picked for their wedding day!!! We had a blast. Danielle and I grew up kind-of like cousins, so it was so much fun to be able to shoot her wedding day. I totally enjoyed watching her as an adult (one of my first memories of D is sharing her room when we went to stay at her house...I think she was 5!! :-)) and seeing the man that she has chosen to live her life with. I think she made a wonderful pick!!! Dave is caring, funny, and he really loves D, which means a lot to me.

Their wedding day was beautiful and the wedding itself was perfect. Exactly as they envisioned it, I think!! ;-)

Dancers...

I wish I could dance...heck I even wish I were gracefull!!! ;-) I don't have either one of those gifts, so I've decided that the next best thing is to photograph those who are graceful and those who can dance. Those who can't do...photograph!!

My friend Shelley recently started her own dance studio: Revolution Dance Studio in Plainfield, IL. She invited me to come up and take pictures for their spring dance recital. It was a crazy day, but it is so much fun to hang out with lots of little girls running around in tutus!! ;-)

Seamus & Jean

This was one FUN wedding. It took place Durham, NC, where I went with my good friend and GREAT photographer, Dai Mic. Seamus and Jean are friends of Dai Mic's, and my goodness, was that a fun crowd.

I'm still trying to figure out if the wedding was actually Irish or Scottish, but either way, it was a new experience for me and one of the most fun parties I've ever witnessed. Most of the people in attendance were friends from Grandfather Mountain, which I have not had the privelage of attending YET, but now it's definitely on my list of things I need to do!!

Seamus and Jean were wonderful. They are such a laid back couple with wonderful families. They know how to have a good time, and they have that enviable gift of surrounding themselves with wonderful people. I always feel very close to a couple after I shoot their wedding day...but with Seamus and Jean...let's just say I'd better be getting invitations to their kids' birthday parties someday. ;-)
